With no petroleum resources of its own, Minnesota must import every drop of petroleum we use as vehicle fuel from other states and foreign countries. However, we have the ability to produce more than one billion gallons of cleaner burning, renewable ethanol every year.

Minnesota's ethanol industry generates $5 billion in economic activity. Blending ethanol into our gasoline helps to create good-paying local jobs, keeps more of the dollars spent on fuel close to home and creates new markets for Minnesota's bountiful corn harvest as well as other future renewable feedstocks.
